What is the Jack the Ripper Conference?
The Jack the Ripper Conference was set for 29th and 30th September 2012 in York, England and was based around the theme of The Double Event: the murders of Elizabeth Stride and Catherine Eddowes during the Autumn of Terror. As the dates of the murders in 2012 fall on the same days of the week as they did in 1888, the weekend was the perfect choice for the Jack the Ripper Conference this year.
The 2012 Jack the Ripper Conference featured talks by experts in the field on a variety of subjects and there was a formal banquet on Saturday night. The Conference returned to the large hotel format. We were really excited about bringing back this format and to be touring the country again as last happened at the fondly remembered 2007 Wolverhampton Conference.
We feel it was the best format for promoting a real family spirit among delegates and a cozy atmosphere. With great Ripper stalls for sellers, hi-tech backdrops, high quality promotion and conference delegate pack, we offered an event program that was geared to entertainment of delegates as well as a great way to learn about the case from some of the leading experts in the field.
Jack the Ripper research can be a lonely subject, but the murders fascinate so many of us, therefore the Conference was a great opportunity to meet up with like-minded people and share theories, information and generally talk about all things Jack the Ripper.
